A couple of very little bits

Hi I have shown you this little washstand breifly before.I painted it in an slightly off white and wanted to add a row of 'tiles' along the back but I did not like my first attempt and despite trying a number of things have run out of patience with it ( in any case the holiday makers are comign for Easter). So in the meantime I have added a 'boat' themed paper to it and think it looks effective enough as a stopgap. I got the stool at the same time as the washstand and have simply covered the set pad with a fabric I bought unline.

I have also tried to make a cooking pot and here it is filled with spuds (potatoes). Potatoes are a very important part of the Irish diet - really the pot ahould be 5 times the size! But this was my first attempt using a lid from a tube of face cream and the handle is card. Hope you like it. I was going to add a white spot like the ones you see for sale but maybe later on. I wanted a lid but by the time I found the button box last night it was too late to work on.

These things have all gone in the Boat House. I am still fiddling with the cardboard cooker for Main Street and am still struggling with it. Nor have I come to a decision about the wallpaper for it. Never mind - as we still have a lot of snow I am sure I will have plenty of time over Easter weekend to work at it - too cold to go out rolling eggs.

Happy Easter in the meantime .

Main Street peek

I have put some furniture in Main Street. This is just a little peek through the windows. I still have to decide on a wallpaper but I thought I needed to put the white table somewhere as my work basket is getting cluttered up.
It was a lovely bright afternoon here despite still having about 9 inches - a foot of snow. I am not sure the photograph is very good because of all the light bouncing about but it will give a hint of what is to come in the downstairs room.

Last one ?

This arrived unexpectedly for my birthday. It's Julie Bennett's The Old Boatshed. Its such a pretty little one room house and it butts up against my other Boathouse beautifully. I think I know what I'm doing with it but it may be a very long term project. It's my last one - see if that's true this time next year.
Both Boat houses are still on the dining table in the Sunroom and I really need to get a move on rearranging the room and putting them on a  table. Meanwhile the red flowers are outside the door.

I find now with having 3 properties ( and a shed) I get distracted into all sorts of little things I come across on the interenet. This morning I've been looking for wallpaper for Main Street which has been neglected since it came. I know exactly what I want - well I thought I did.

I have cut out a cooker to try to make one for Main Street as I really shouldn't spend any more on bits this month(or next for that matter) . Let's just say it's in the early stages. ( and may hit the bin shortly!)

We're more or less snowed in as none of the cars will move as there's about a foot of snow in the street - the wheels were spinning last night and no one went anywhere -and it's still snowing and very windy. It'll be a nice excuse for some making later - by the fire of course.

Little things

I have spent a few days fiddling at little things. I thought I would try the perfume bottles after seeing them on Pinterest.
I set up a temporary display  on  a little washstand I am still working on. The little blue bowl on the washstand arrived with  a few other bits from the Little House at the Priory
here

The blue basin was smaller than I thought as I had hoped to use it as a basin for the washstand but it is a pretty blue and very in keeping with the colour scheme.
My new tenants may have to go down to the beach to wash their faces though.

I also made some little bags from the Jennifer's Printables site. I have only managed to add handles to one set so far as I will have to hunt for the colour of papaer I want for the others.
I printed them out in 2 sizes as I was not sure which was right for me but I now think both sizes are usable.

Not so much luck with my packet of Fairy. It came out like one of those huge boxes of soap powder you get that last forever. And part of the template was missing so it can only be viewed from one side. It certainly won't kit under the sink!

The weather here has been very cold - I have also spent time by the fire painting a few bits. I will try to upload some tomorrow.

Not To Let any more

I have a little time this evening so I thought I would just let you know the To Let sign is coming down.
The Boathouse has been rented by a city couple who want a little weekend getaway - Sarah and Jonny Leebody. They are happy with it as it is at the moment and promise to put their own touches to it . They will be moving in at Easter.

My Mother's Day present

I am a very lucky mummy - this is my Mother's Day present last Sunday. I am going to try to add the photo by phone again as as usual my week has not gone quite to plan.
This house was sold as a shop but it is going to be a house.
I tried to persuade 2 people I know to buy it but it kept popping up on ebay and obviously was meant for me!
I think I may call it Main Street. It fits beauitfully on the window sill of my sunroom. Before I actually had it in my hands I thought I might change the pink paint but now I have it I do love it pink- what do you think?

Good intentions

I fully intented showing you my Mother's Day gift and making a longer post but nothing even works out how I think it will.
Meanwhile I am going to try posting a p icture from my phone of the bed made up.. I wondered afterwards if I should have washed the sheets frist to make them sit a little better but hey ho!

I promise to try and show you that Mother's Day present tomorrow - or the day after.

The kitchen wallpaper is up - sort of!

Well the wallpapering in the kitchen is half done. I had it cut before I realised the match and now need to print some more but the printer  is rather overworked this week so that is to come. I have blu tacked the second sheet into place to show the effect and how it is coming on. This is another paper from Jennifer's Printables.

I have used the Shabby Chic sink I made from the blank kit in the meantime. The oven unit is one from The Dolls House Emporium but purchased on ebay. I have also bought the matching island unit ( also ebay) and am keeping an eye out for the matching sink. My original intention was to paint them white in Shabby Chic style but they are such nice wood I can't bring myself to do that at the moment. They are lovely - and all the little doors open making the perfect excuse for buying more fruit and vegetables.
I am still trying to find the perfect position for the island unit. What do you think?
Sorry for the quality of the photos - a very dull and wet morning here today. In fact a very dull wet day - where is the sun?

I also reworked a little sewing box by painting it with blue nail varnish - the material did not seem to be wood so paint wouldn't stick to it. I finished by adding paper in Cath Kidston print to the bottom and lid. The little bits and pieces in the box are fixed so I decided in this instance not to try to take them out. I am debating whether to add flowers to the top and sides - maybe not.

My next target is to make up the bed with the bedclothes at the weekend.
I am also waiting for some more blank wood pieces of furniture to arrive so I have something to paint.

To Let

Well this has been a busy week. I haven't had as much time for my little house as I would have wished. I spent most of Sunday sorting out a 'baby' for ebay and the rest of the week ran away with me.
I got the paper up in the bedroom and got the bed near enough together - not perfect but it did have a lot of pieces! The mattress is a little neat on it but it is such a lovely little mattress as is the bedset. I got these from ebay here ( hope that works).

I haven't made the bed up yet but have put up a To Let sign on the house as it's just the weather for a sweet little cottage by the sea to find a tenant.

I don't know about you but here this week it seems a Spring of sorts might just have arrived and we've had some lovely sun.

I've been working on at my sink and set it up this morning to see how it looks with some of the china from a set I got from Fran at Fran's miniatures. Sorry not a great picture as the light was poor.

Plans for the weekend - hoping to paper the kitchen/living area.
